The balanced rotor provides for smooth running and excellent durability. Finally, the electric alternator is protected against corrosion using special varnishes and tested by specially trained Mercedes‑Benz professionals on one of our test stands.
Three-phase alternators are used to convert mechanical kinetic energy into electrical power. In vehicle applications, these are referred to simply as alternators. In generating power, the engine drives the truck's belt drive, providing mechanical energy that the alternator converts. Energy conversion efficiency means that the conversion process consumes more energy than is produced.
Because the alternator is subject to more friction on the bearings, collectors and slip rings, these are the component parts that suffer the most wear.
