What are the benefits of a Mercedes‑Benz Genuine Remanufactured manual transmission?

The precise matching of the gearwheels and pre-filling with premium oil (except G56 and G60) give the manual transmission excellent longevity and performance. Our decades of experience in the production and evolution of commercial vehicle transmissions have given us a unique level of expertise, resulting in our transmissions having three distinguishing features in particular:

  • Smooth running characteristics
  • Low weight
  • Exceptional longevity

How does a truck manual transmission work?

In a manual transmission, the gear pairs determine the gear ratios. The shifting mechanism in the transmission switches between the gears. The torque is transmitted from the clutch to the transmission input shaft via a splined profile. The gearwheels of the separate transmission stages may be mounted directly on the transmission input shaft, for example. Alternatively, the input and output shafts (collectively referred to as the main shaft) may also be mounted coaxially (aligned), but split by a countershaft running parallel to the axle.

How do you identify a defective manual transmission in a truck?

  • Shifting is difficult or noisy
  • Damage due to external force, oil starvation, penetration by water
  • Gear or shaft breakage
  • Bearing noise
  • No power flow
  • Gear skipping
