What are the benefits of a clutch plate as a remanufactured part?

A Mercedes‑Benz Genuine Remanufactured clutch plate is comparable to a new part in terms of reliability and standard of quality. Because it is so perfectly matched to the other clutch components, power transmission from the engine to the transmission is extremely reliable. A comfortable ride with smooth starts and excellent vibration damping are good reasons to choose this product.

How does a clutch plate work?

Because the clutch forms the detachable link between the transmission and the engine, there are components that are firmly connected to the transmission. There is the flywheel on the engine side and the clutch plate on the transmission side. When the clutch is engaged, a spring encloses the clutch plate between the pressure plate and the flywheel. These components can then either be connected or detached. When the driver releases the clutch pedal, the drive plate is pressed against the engaged friction lining and establishes a friction-locked connection. When the clutch pedal is depressed, this breaks the connection and halts power transmission. The driver can then change gear.

The clutch plate has a hub section. If the clutch plate and drive pinion have different numbers of teeth, this makes vehicle starts quicker.

How do I identify a defective clutch plate?

  • "Slipping" clutch
  • Strange noises during gear changes
  • Noticeable vibration and jolting
  • Rough gear changes
  • One or more gears cannot be engaged
