What are the benefits of a Mercedes‑Benz Genuine Remanufactured truck turbocharger?

For full performance and a long service life, a genuine remanufactured turbocharger is painstakingly processed and comprehensively tested. This includes the installation of a new compressor wheel, including balancing, and the careful remanufacturing of the compressor wheel housing so that it connects perfectly to the engine. The series production specifications of the bearing housing are checked, and it is replaced if necessary.

What does a turbocharger do?

A turbocharger, also known simply as an exhaust gas turbocharger or turbo, is the component part responsible for forced induction to the engine. It increases engine output and efficiency and is therefore an auxiliary assembly to the combustion engine.

It uses some of the energy from the engine exhaust gas to drive a compressor by means of a turbine inside the exhaust system. This increases the pressure of the fresh air in the intake system, optimizes the volumetric efficiency of the cylinder and thereby makes more air available for combustion. It also transports more of the oxygen needed for combustion into the cylinders of the major assembly. This results in higher engine output while reducing consumption and cutting emissions.

How to identify a defective turbocharger:

  • Vehicle is slower to accelerate
  • Light or bluish smoke is produced
  • Turbocharger whistles
  • Misfiring during driving
  • General loss in engine output
